Groves Update
Prayer/Praise Report - August 2008
Praises:
- Praise the Lord we made it to Rota Spain on 22 June. After over 18 hours of travel time we arrived home ready to explore our new home and ministry sight. We are thankful for the many prayers offered on our behalf as the kids traveled great. We hope to be on schedule soon, we have found this to be difficult as our days are so busy trying to get unpacked and settled in and it stays light till 10 or 1030 at night.
- We praise the Lord for all the help we have received from the sailors. Several showed up to help us unload two 20' containers and one came back the next two days to further help. Many have also showed up to help build the playground. Thank you for your wonderful gifts in supplying this for the many children of the villa.
- We have a great group of sailors both active and retired. All are excited about our arrival; they have been without permanent leadership here for over 2 yrs. We are already brainstorming together as to how to make this place better known throughout the base.
Prayer requests:
- Continue to pray for our KY home to sell soon!!
- Continue to pray for the Lord to add new monthly supporters to our team.
- Pray for our finances to be stretched both personal and ministry. We have now learned firsthand of the financial challenges we will face as the dollar is so weak to the Euro at the moment. On a side note: Gas is cheap at $4 a gallon, it's well over $8 here, closer to 9.
- Pray that those who attend the house will begin supporting this ministry financially. For the past several months our expenses have run over 2500 per month and the given has only averaged around 200 per month. I presented many aspects about the ministry to those who attend so pray with us that they will get fully on board and finances is one of those areas.
- We have many new studies beginning in the month of Sept. Our men's group which meets at 0600 on Thursdays will begin "The Quest for Authentic Manhood." Thank you Fellowship Bible Church for this curriculum. We will also begin Financial Peace University, most likely Thurs evening. One family has already expressed great excitement for this study. I will begin my teaching time on Fri nights with an overview and history of Scripture, then Gen 1-11 as I desire to lay a good foundation for these sailors who serve us so well. Then in Sept we will dive into the book of James together.
- Pray with us that we will have good working relationships with the chaplains.
- Pray for our outreach efforts. Many in our group desire to get the word out to their friends about our ministry. We will be putting together a tri-fold brochure to explain what the villa is all about and these will be passed out in various places.
Thank you for praying,
The Groves Family
