Groves Update
Prayer/Praise Report - November 2008
Hola!
Last month was a busy one, with an even busier November ahead of us! It's all good, though, because God has been in it! Relationships have deepened because of our activities - both planned and unplanned! - and we pray for God's wisdom as we love on folks He brings our way. |
OCTOBER HIGHLIGHTS:
*We made our first day trip with a couple of Villa families to Arcos, one of the many pueblos blancos that pepper southern Spain. It was beautiful, built on a cliff overlooking groves of olive trees and fields of cotton! We enjoyed spending time with the Parkers and Grays, and all 12 kids had great fun together! (See pictures here at Stacey's blog.)
*We experienced for the first time the fury of a storm with a name - Tropical Storm Vince! Flooding was wide-spread over Rota, including the church we've been attending. We were able to move services over to the Villa (one of those "unplanned activities"!), and had the opportunity to introduce many folks who had never been here to our ministry.
(Pictures here at the Villa blog.)
*FBC Rota hosted a Fall VBS that culminated in a Fall Festival on the 31st. Most of our Villa families attended and had a wonderful time each night. Two teenagers made professions of faith, for which we rejoice!
NOVEMBER HAPPENINGS:
*Birthdays, birthdays, birthdays! Besides 3 of our own kiddos celebrating birthdays (Caleb-8, Katie Jo-7, Bethany-4), we're going to 3 other kids' birthday parties! Plus, we have a new niece who added her birthday to our November roster - Stacey's brother and sister-in-law had their first child on the 2nd. We praise God for each of these little lives!
*Thanksgiving x2 - We're hosting 2 dinners this year, one is FBC's celebration, held on the 15th, to also serve as a farewell to one dearly-loved family, and to welcome the new pastor and his family. On Thanksgiving Day, we'll have our own Villa dinner, the start of our busy holiday season. Pray with us that we will fill a void for many military folks away from home and family on this most American holiday. Pray specifically that we reach singles as well. Lanny will give an evangelistic message that day.
OTHER PRAYER REQUESTS:
*For wisdom in counseling friends...with deeper relationships comes more vulnerability and sharing of hearts. Pray for us to love people well as we share God's truth.
*For daily wisdom in prioritizing our marriage, ministry, homeschooling, and home life.
*Because regular Sunday chapel attendance isn't currently possible, pray for other in-roads to the base community, such as PWOC and mid-week chapel studies, to be effective in reaching the military community.
*For the ongoing issues with the property (water damage, mold, vandalism).
